Nueva Era: A Must-Visit In Ilocos Region

Nueva Era, a third-class municipality in Ilocos Norte, is becoming a favorite destination in Ilocos Region as it recently opened an eco-cultural park offering the experience of staying overnight in a tree house. Yes, you read it right! The eco-cultural park was created to highlight the Tingguian culture and allowing tourists to enjoy the great outdoor in the area. You can enjoy a tribal dance at the park too. 

Aside from the eco-cultural park, Nueva Era is also known having a view deck, offering breathtaking views of the mountains being shared by the Provinces of Ilocos Norte and Abra in the Cordillera Region. Nueva Era is one of three mountain municipalities in Ilocos Norte. This town is an hour drive from Laoag City via the Dingras road. According to the 2015 census, Nueva Era has a total population of less than 10,000. Politically, this town is being subdivided into 11 barangays.


To get to Nueva Era, Ilocos Norte, from Manila, ride a bus heading to Laoag City. Bus operators include Partas, Maria de Leon, Florida among others. Travel time from Manila to Laoag City is approximately nine hours. Bus fare is around Php 700 to Php 800 per person. Travel tip: Travel at night to save an accommodation.

From the bus terminal in Laoag City, ride a tricycle heading to Nueva Era-Banna jeepney terminal. Tricycle fare is around Php 11. Nueva Era is an hour drive from Laoag City. Jeepney fare is around Php 60-80 per person. Please reminded that the first trip to Nueva Era from Laoag City is at 6 AM.
