Travel Guide To Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte

Pagudpud, located at the Northern tip of Luzon, is a coastal town in Ilocos Norte offering a very laid back, unsullied by development, sans hordes of tourists, boom boom bars and loud music at night. Truly, Pagudpud is what Boracay was in the old days.

TOP PLACES TO VISIT IN PAGUDPUD

SAUD BEACH -- The Saud Beach is a long stretch of golden sand with crystal clear blue water. It stretches from the western point of the bay towards the Bangui Windmills and coconut trees and vegetation shielded a rocky point on the east; and on the middle, it houses the Municipal Beach entrance.

According to my friend QK Bill from Germany, Saud Beach is one of the best beaches in the world. He has been to hundreds of beaches around the world and Saud Beach is one of his top choices. The beach is very peaceful; photogenic because of the coconut trees and the windmills on the other shores; just a few tourists; the soft sand turns gold as the sun sets; no pollution; cheap; and the locals are very friendly.

I've been here several times and I won't think twice of going back again. I will stay here for weeks or more.

    •  Cottage Rental: Php 150; good for 8 hours

KABIGAN FALLS -- Trek for at least 30 minutes and you'll surely fall in love with Kabigan Falls. The trek is fairly easy and the scenery is amazingly beautiful as you'll pass by the rice fields and streams. Please don't leave Kabigan Falls without enjoying the cold water! Yes, you should swim!

PATAPAT VIADUCT -- The Patapat Viaduct is a concrete coastal bridge that stretches more than a kilometer long, connecting Ilocos Norte and Cagayan, the northernmost provinces of mainland Luzon. Views here are incredibly beautiful. Fun fact: The Patapat Viaduct is the fourth longest bridge here in the Philippines.

BANTAY ABOT CAVE -- The Bantay Abot Cave is a hill that was wrecked by an earthquake in the 80's leaving a hole in the middle. Inside the hole, you can see the blue waters of Maira-ira Beach or the Blue Lagoon and on the other side of the hole is the Timmangtang Rock. The cave is covered with lush green vegetation making it really beautiful.

DOS HERMANOS ISLANDS -- The Don Hermanos Islands is one of the most visited destinations in Pagudpud. Getting here isn't that easy as you are required to wear your aqua shoes, walking on the dead corals. This is a perfect spot for snorkeling.

MAIRA-IRA BEACH/BLUE LAGOON -- The sea water here is really blue, in all angles. That's the reason why it's called the Blue Lagoon. I love the rustic beauty of the lagoon. Such a beautiful spot for my Instagram.

Staying a night or two in Pagudpud is highly recommended. Just in case you're staying longer, you may add the following on your itinerary: Agua Paraiso, Pasaleng Hidden Beach, Timmangtang Rock Formation, Paraiso Ni Anton and a lot more!
